The Performance Verification Service consists of a complete procedure as described in the applicable owners manual using NIST traceable instruments and procedures meeting the requirements of MIL-STD-45662A. A performance verification certificate with complete test data is provided, and a verification sticker is applied to the instrument. Dielectric withstand and ground integrity tests are also performed.

Transit Packing Information

It is very important to understand that these instruments contain high mass components which render them especially susceptible to transit damage if not correctly packaged. Your transit package must be able to fully protect the instrument from one meter drops to a hard floor, landing on any surface, edge or corner. If your package may not provide this level of protection, do not ship the instrument until the package is corrected!

Please save the original shipping container and materials if in good condition. When you return an instrument, be certain to repackage it in the same manner and using the same materials (if in good condition) as shipped, or as described below, or refer to a professional packaging service.

Packing Requirements:

All probes and cables must be removed from their connectors. If probes are included in the package, they must be protectively wrapped separately, and located in the package so that they cannot come into contact with the instrument's front or rear panel. (Do not ship probes unless they require separate service.)

Tape a foam or other type of soft protective sheet over the instrument's front panel to prevent scuff damage to the front panel. Place the instrument in a sealed bag to prevent small packing materials such as styrofoam peanuts from contaminating the interior of the instrument.

Completely surround the instrument with cushioning material as follows:

Large cell bubble wrap (3/4" high or larger cells): A minimum of four layers surrounding all six sides of the instrument.

Small cell bubble wrap: A minimum of twenty layers surrounding all six sides of the instrument.

Injected foam: The instrument must be supported above the bottom of the container with a minimum of 2" of cushioned spacer material before the foam is injected. Otherwise the instrument will settle before the foam cures, leaving insufficient protection on the bottom. Tennis balls provide an excellent spacer for this purpose. The spacer cannot be an incompressible material.

Styrofoam corner blocks: At least 1.5" thick, on all eight corners of the instrument.

Don't utilize oversized containers: It's wasteful to over-package your instrument by enclosing it in a container that's larger than is necessary to provide adequate protection. Oversized containers waste cargo space and cause handling inefficiencies, so most carriers charge a significant extra fee to ship such parcels. We try to reuse transit containers and cushioning material whenever they're serviceable so as to reduce packaging costs and waste, but we can't do this when your transit container is oversized. Please don't package your instrument in an oversized container.

Hypatia will not be responsible for shipping damage en route to Hypatia, nor will Hypatia file shipping insurance claims against any carrier if in Hypatia's or the carrier's judgment the damage was due primarily to inadequate packaging.
